The Inn is situated on St. Clair Lake, part of the chain of 14 inland lakes, which allows the guests total freedom to enjoy any of the lakes in a kayak or canoe. |
| Two kayaks and a canoe are available at our Inn for the guests to use at their convenience. Six-Mile Lake Preserve is only a 20-minute paddle to the south--turtles, a wide variety of birds, and deer will make that trip truly enjoyable-- 'silent sports' at its best! |

Snowshoeing has become one of the most popular 'silent sports' in Northern Michigan. It is an exciting and practical way to explore the beauty of winter, especially at The House on the Hill. We have over 50 acres of property, some with open trails. The other terrain offers cedar wetlands, wooded hills, open fields and artesian ground water springs; perfect for bushwhacking and photo opportunities

We have several sets of snowshoes for our guests' use while staying at the Inn. Come and enjoy, but be sure to be back after your early-morning hike for the delicious breakfast or in time for wine after an afternoon session. |

Other winter "silent sports" in the area include marvelous cross-country skiing opportunities at several nearby facilities. We also recommend snowshoeing in the Jordan River Valley or a winter raft trip down the Jordan River, both available through Jordan Valley Outfitters. Call the Inn for details. |
