The Chain of Lakes

Northern Michigan is beautiful in every direction. No matter where you are in Northern Michigan, you are no more than 5 miles from a body of water. So, which direction should you go? The House on the Hill B & B sits right on the Chain of Lakes in the Northwest region. What is our little village known for? We have a dedicated water trail running right through us. 75 miles of a water trail, to be precise. While you are dining at our B & B in the summer, you are looking right at that water trail. Our beach lets you right onto the water trail via our complimentary kayaks (single and tandem), SUP’s (stand up paddle boards) and canoe. Go in either direction and you have miles of natural area to explore.

There is so much buzz about our water trail these days because a non profit organization has gotten the word out. Paddle Antrim is a non profit organization working to protect our water resources by using paddle sports to connect people to our waterways. So, what does this mean for you if you stay with us? As stated before, you have access to our watercraft to explore the waterway. There is a kick off event to start the season on June 2 with Short’s Brewery. Then there is the Paddle Antrim Festival September 15-17, 2022. A two day, 42 mile paddle that is really something you can train for and look forward to. The Festival kicks off literally 1 minute from our B & B with music, food and registration. Perhaps you have always wanted to try paddle sports, but don’t feel comfortable yet. Paddle Antrim has several dates on which they provide lessons. Go to paddleantrim.com to explore the many ways you can enjoy our water trails. We want to share them with you!
